Privacy Policy
Privacy is not an extra feature in PrivateChat; it's our fundamental pillar. This policy clearly explains how we handle information.
1. Personal Data
We do not collect, do not request, and do not store your real name, phone number, IP address (persistently), or email. You are identified in the system exclusively by a nickname chosen by you and a public cryptographic key.
2. Messages and Media
All messages and files sent through PrivateChat are end-to-end encrypted. This means only you and the recipient have the private key to read the content. Encrypted files and messages pass through our server only for delivery; once the recipient downloads the message, it is deleted from our records.
3. What stays on the server?
- Your current nickname, stored exclusively in an irreversible way (hashed), so that even we don't know what nickname you chose.
- Your public key (necessary so others can encrypt messages for you).
- Your Firebase Cloud Messaging token (necessary to send push notifications to your phone).
- Messages awaiting delivery (deleted as soon as your app confirms receipt).
